Sunday Morning

I had to check the clock first as soon as I typed the title to see if it was indeed still morning. It is.. for another thirty minutes. Russ just went to return his way-too big Tonka toy of a truck that was a loaner since his is in the shop, but man, it could haul three weddings worth of rentals I'm pretty certain.
Thinking about this odd-in-between weather here in Savannah where Summer and Fall are arm wrestling and neither one seems to have the upper hand.
We're ready for a mountain trip, crisp apples and funky colored gourds and crunchy leaves.. We need a little trip.
The photo above was from an autumnal, colorful photoshoot we did with Mackensey Alexander and Ivory + Beau last year.. It captures the mood I'm in this cloudy, restful Sunday.

A Sugar Rush - Suzanne & Patrick

Breaking a wedding routine is always a nice treat at the shop during the southern wedding prime, making Suzanne and Patrick's beautiful wedding a great experience for us. It began as a journey away from Savannah into Hilton Head Island to the alluring  Westin Hilton Head Island Spa and Resort. We were greeted with an energy that fueled the unique experience to the peak setter, a candy bar. Going with something different, the bride and groom replaced the traditional groom's cake with a make your own candy bag station. This new trend was a hit among the guests, and left us wanting more of the unique experience.

Today's Styled Wedding Shoot

       ***************************************

I love collaborating with other wonderful, creative wedding designers & professionals. This centerpiece got to come back to the studio with me and looks right at home on my desk. Although camelias and azaleas don't hold up very well, I had to snag a few from my backyard for their gorgeous colors and crepe paper textures.

Experimenting with different color palettes like blackish-eggplant mini callas and the darkest hypericum I've come across thus far, with delicate blush-white roses makes for unique and interesting arrangements. I'm still a champion for carnations and these peach mambos lent themselves well to the overall design.

A Beautiful Rainy Day Wedding in Savannah

********************************

Today was a beautiful day for a wedding here in Savannah at the lovely Savannah College of Art & Design's Magnolia Hall. A rainy wedding makes for a sunny marriage. And much congratulations to Nicola + Robert.

I loved the little bay window alcove area that looked onto the courtyard. It was the perfect setting for an organic arrangement that fit perfectly atop my little hallway table.  Queen Anne's Lace, quicksand roses, coin eucalyptus, champagne spray roses, astrantia, white hypericum and some blushy white astilbe, white patience david austin roses, and dusty miller, were a few of the flowers that went into the arrangements.

Flower Crush: Saipua

                        *********************************************************

So, back in the old days when I worked as the lifestyle editor for a humble-sized newspaper in Ohio, I had the joy of creating daily columns based on several interests that appealed to many of the township's readers. As part of my New Year's Resolutions, writing in my blog needs to appeal to me as much as it does to you, my dear reader.

All this to say, I'd love to have each day (let's say four days) of the week be dedicated to something new and interesting in the world of flora and design.  One of these days, I believe, will be dedicated to my flower crushes- my fellow floral designers that keep me ooohing and aaaaahhing over the beautiful world of flowers I'm SO blessed to work in each day.

Many of you are familiar with Sarah over at Saipua in Brooklyn. Not only is she a brilliant designer, but she's a ridiculous (that's a compliment) photographer and Rembrandt would have been proud. Above are a few of her arrangements for you to ogle. Please be sure to wipe up the drool from your keyboard when you're through :)

Featured on Style Me Pretty Georgia

                      ****************************

We're thrilled to have been featured on Style Me Pretty Georgia the other day alongside some of my favorite and talented vendors who did an amazing job on Courtney and Ryan's wedding at the Tybee Wedding Chapel. First City Events as always did a great job delivering smooth and stress-free planning and of course Alicja, of TAKEN Photography captured everything beautifully- especially the bride! And I always love Ashley's, of Tier Luxury Cakes, fun creativity.
