Getting Excited for Fall

So here in Savannah it finally feels like fall. Chilly nights and nippy toes and noses and animals curling in a bit tighter with us on the bed; yup, it's officially autumn.

It's rare we do not have a wedding on Saturday and I've been itching to work on our website and play with tremendous flowers, weeds, dried branches off the railroad track and any other odd organic piece I might forage. (I am certain I am part squirrel).

Stay tuned and have a gander at what's new for the fall. We're "cooking up a storm" in our flower kitchen and can't wait for you to see what we're up to. Time for my cozy bed.. I'm the last one up. Good night!

Sunday Morning

I had to check the clock first as soon as I typed the title to see if it was indeed still morning. It is.. for another thirty minutes. Russ just went to return his way-too big Tonka toy of a truck that was a loaner since his is in the shop, but man, it could haul three weddings worth of rentals I'm pretty certain.
Thinking about this odd-in-between weather here in Savannah where Summer and Fall are arm wrestling and neither one seems to have the upper hand.
We're ready for a mountain trip, crisp apples and funky colored gourds and crunchy leaves.. We need a little trip.
The photo above was from an autumnal, colorful photoshoot we did with Mackensey Alexander and Ivory + Beau last year.. It captures the mood I'm in this cloudy, restful Sunday.

The Rhythm of Locusts

The sound of locusts, the lulling bedtime of summer ending. I have been thinking in desert mode these past few weeks. We've had our fair share of rain, but there is something sweet and haunting about one season laying down for another. Leaves are falling in the streets, the children have gone back to school and I'm in a southwest space. The quietness of summer has allowed me to dig and plant with dirt under my "why-do-I-EVER-get-a-manicure" nails. In my love for arranging flowers, planting arrangements has been a fun diversion.

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

We're thrilled to introduce our first ever Valentine's Day flowers. The day is especially meaningful to me because that is when my darling proposed. As campy as it seems, it's true. Along the narrow walkway deep in the Ubud Monkey Forest in Bali, Russ gingerly got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Monkeys like all things shiny so we threw them our last bananas and got out of dodge.

Sitting with Sebastian

I've just popped in from the studio after making a sunny arrangement for today's photo shoot. I'm sitting here in bed while Sebastian plays with his fun stuffed flower (might as well get him started young). It's wintry and gray and my hands are all "jacked up" with tendonitis of sorts. The cold doesn't help. Russ is outside fixing the tire on his pick up truck which is literally on a car jack and looks quite red neck outside our front door. We came to the conclusion that perhaps this is where the expression "jacked-up" came from... if the shoe fits?
